TIPS, TRICKS & TACTICS

By Kristi Kenny

It’s no secret that all of us at Navicure pride ourselves on being very responsive to clients’ needs and requests. In keeping with that commitment, we’ve added several features to our Navicure solution this fall – aimed at helping clients work smarter, not harder.

1. Our breakthrough Work List functionality allows users to automatically sort Navicure- or payer-rejected claims into pre-determined “buckets” of work – and distribute them to the staff member who can most effectively deal with problems contributing to the rejection. For instance, all claims that fail due to problems with patient information (e.g., wrong address, incorrect insurance information) can be directed to front-desk staff responsible for patient interactions. Similarly, clients can determine that all payer rejections from Blue Cross/Blue Shield can be routed to a staff member dedicated to keeping abreast of its coding and reimbursement policies.

Work List enables staff – with two easy clicks of the mouse – to be immediately directed to a personalized work queue. No longer must they filter through a scoreboard to determine what items need immediate attention. Users with administrator privileges set up the work lists, customized to their practice’s existing work patterns and staff capabilities. Staff members need not invest time and effort figuring out their daily priorities – they immediately know where to focus their attention, working claims that will produce the most revenue.

The Work List feature is located under Work Flow on the product control bar in Navicure and must be activated in the Purchases Product screen.

2. Clients can access a User Activity Report (UAR) to review who has been working specific claims. This provides managers easy access for tracking activity on claims and for evaluating individual staff productivity. Only users with the status of “administrator” have access to the report, which is not displayed in real-time, but instead updated overnight.

The UAR is accessed from the Operations folder under Report/Menu/Dynamic Claim Status. Navicure has designed the UAR to offer filter options by User, Payer, Source of Pay and Date Range. When viewed, the report displays how many times a user has viewed, resubmitted or cancelled claims. It also provides data on the number of days that have elapsed from receipt to submission.

3. Clients are now able to register new providers electronically, without having to fill out and fax paperwork or wait for Navicure to process these additions. Administrators at client sites key in new provider information at their convenience. After logging on, users select “Tools” and “Add-on Provider” to enter relevant data. The new provider will be registered to Navicure and added to the client’s invoice. Once the registration is processed, Navicure will send a notification via the client’s Message Center.

One reminder: Be sure to register a new provider before sending a claim for their services to Navicure.

As always, feel free to contact Client Services with questions, comments or request for additional support: 770-342-0800 or clientservices@navicure.com.
